This lot comprises two magnum bottles of 1985 vintage Château La Mission Haut-Brion from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux.
The appellation Pessac-Léognan is part of the Graves wine region, south of the city of Bordeaux. Vines thrive on the Ice Age gravel terraces, producing first-class mineral red wines made up of Cabernet Sauvignon and some Merlot and Cabernet franc. Aside from Château Haut-Brion, the region’s iconic Premier cru classé, Pape-Clément and Smith Haut-Lafite are the leading wine growers of the region. The appellation is also the home of intense, powerful dry white wines. Cuvées made from Sauvignon blanc and Sémillon are aromatic and structurally characterized by Sauvignon blanc.
1985 was an exceedingly successful wine year in Bordeaux that often wrongly stands in the shadow of the 1982 and 1986 vintages. Wines from this year are unique in their richness and complexity. This is a mature wine that will undoubtedly be a true pleasure to drink.
The 1985 vintage Château La Mission Haut-Brion was rated 92 points by Robert Parker in 2012. The wine was rated 90 points by James Suckling in 1994. The wine was rated 18 of 20 points by René Gabriel in 2013.
The fill levels are excellent (high fill). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.
