This lot comprises six bottles of 1986 vintage Domaine de Chevalier from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux.

The appellation Pessac-Léognan is part of the Graves wine region, south of the city of Bordeaux. Vines thrive on the Ice Age gravel terraces, producing first-class mineral red wines made up of Cabernet Sauvignon and some Merlot and Cabernet franc. Aside from Château Haut-Brion, the region’s iconic Premier cru classé, Pape-Clément and Smith Haut-Lafite are the leading wine growers of the region. The appellation is also the home of intense, powerful dry white wines. Cuvées made from Sauvignon blanc and Sémillon are aromatic and structurally characterized by Sauvignon blanc.

1986 was a very good vintage in Bordeaux with tannin-rich wines that develop wonderfully over many years.

The 1986 vintage Domaine de Chevalier was rated 88 points by Robert Parker in 1998. The wine was rated 89 points by Wine Spectator in 1989. The wine was rated 17 of 20 points by René Gabriel in 2008.
