This lot comprises two magnum bottles of 1985 vintage Château Palmer from the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux.
Margaux is located in MĂ©doc and is one the finest appellations in France. Ernest Hemingway was so fond of Margaux wine that he named his daughter after it. The most widely used grape variety is Cabernet Sauvignon, which is always blended with other varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The wines are long-lasting and should only be savored after several years of proper storage.
1985 was an exceedingly successful wine year in Bordeaux that often wrongly stands in the shadow of the 1982 and 1986 vintages. Wines from this year are unique in their richness and complexity. This is a mature wine that will undoubtedly be a true pleasure to drink.
The 1985 vintage Château Palmer was rated 88 points by Robert Parker in 2003. The wine was rated 91 points by James Suckling in 1994. The wine was rated 19 of 20 points by René Gabriel in 2013.
The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.
