A small valley, in which Pinot noir known as Spätburgunder develops its cool beauty. Pinot noir has found a congenial second home here, on the weathered slate floor and terrace vineyards that have been around for centuries. It is cooler than in Burgundy and the rocks of the vineyards are darker. The best vineyards are south-facing, allowing the black rocks to store the warmth of the day and transfer it to the vines during the cool nights. This has produced fantastic top growths for a good two decades that can mature beautifully and combine delicate fruity notes with intensity. The vineyards of the Ahr valley, south of Bonn, span just fifty-five hectares. It is deemed one of the small winegrowing regions in Germany that nonetheless produce great growths.
The fill levels are excellent (< 2 cm). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.
