Charming floral still life with apples and oranges executed in bright colors and expressive manner
This oil painting was created by the Austrian painter Walter Gamerith and originated around 1930. In the center of the composition the painter presents a flower bouquet in a vase standing on a table. Apples and oranges as well as a blue and white tablecloth are draped around it. In two-dimensional design and bright colors the painter presents an attractive still life in an expressive manner.
The painting is overall in good condition. Small-scale repainting visible under UV light in the lower left image, otherwise of good impression. It is inscribed in pencil โGamerithโ on the reverse. The image measures 50 x 69.5 cm. The framed dimensions are 53 x 73 cm.
Walter Gamerith (1903-1949)
Walter Gamerith started his artistic training at the Academy of Arts in Vienna. He specialized in painting in 1926 and attended the class of Professor Karl Sterrer (1885-1972). He completed his studies in 1930 and set off for some travels through Europe. His first exhibition was held at the Vienna Kรผnstlerhaus in 1934, which resulted in his admission as a member in 1939. Gamerith painted portraits and nudes, but his main artistic focus was landscape painting. Italian and Parisian motifs deeply influenced his work, as well as the beautiful areas around Lake Attersee. Examples of his artistic output can be found in the Albertina in Vienna. (cru)
