Very good condition

The three graphics are the lithograph ‘Le chien a la lune aboyant réveille le coqu’, signed in the stone. It is printed the full sheet on a double sheet with center fold and was published in 1952 in the issue 27/28 of the volume VII of the art magazine ‘Verve’ (Mourlot 121). It is accompanied by a certificate. There is also the color lithograph ‘Le chanteur’ from 1972, which is also printed on a double sheet with center fold and was bound in a book. The third color lithograph is printed on a single sheet wove paper with wide margins and is in addition to the signature in the stone also numbered in pencil ‘349/1500’.


Two of the lithographs are signed in the stone lower right ‘Miró’, thereof one is additionally numbered in pencil lower left ‘349/1500’. One sheet is mounted to a passepartout at the reverse sheet edges, two bear remains of old binding. The condition of the sheets are very good. The images measure 20 x 15.5 cm, 32.2 x 24.5 cm and 35.5x 53.1 cm. The dimensions of the sheets are 33 x 25 cm 32.2 x 49.8 cm (double sheet) und 35.5 x 53.2 cm (double sheet).



Joan Miró (1893-1983)

Miró was born in Barcelona where he grew up and started his artistic studies. He went to the academy La Llotja against his parents’ will who had wanted him to work in a more traditional way. He later studied at the Escola d’Art from Francesc Galí and got to know the Fauves and the cubists. In 1920 he moved to Paris where he lived amongst the most creative artists of his time. He got to know Arp, Magritte, Brancusi and Giacometti and exhibited together with Dalí, Tanguy, Meret Oppenheim und Max Ernst in several exhibitions about Dadaism and Surrealism. He moved to Mallorca in 1956 where he focused on sculptures and ceramics. (fea)
