Rare Pair of French Provincial Louis XV Style Carved Oak Curio Cabinets, 19th c., the shell carved arched crests over an arched glazed door with long iron escutcheons and short iron fiche hinges flanked by carved stiles and glazed side panels on leaf carved cabriole legs to scrolled feet on French toes, joined by a serpentine skirt, H.- 37 1/2 in., W.- 23 3/4 in., D.- 12 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Fabric lined interior observed with heavy staining, and scattered holes. Finish is moderately inconsistent throughout, with scattered scuffs and scratches observed. One with minor losses noted the right stile. Round holes seen at top of stiles – possibly now lacking finials. Both cabinets are noted as sturdy. A charming pair.
