(Irish, 1797-1868), titled verso "Morning View on the Ohio", black and white men with flotilla of boats on Ohio River, signed verso on label and inscribed "…my own original sketches made in N. America in 1847", oil on panel, Winsor & Newton colorman label verso, old labels verso with inscriptions, possibly one from the artist, 14 x 12 in.; modern gilt wood frame. Craquelure, areas of overcleaning, possible bonding resin. Provenance: Stated verso purchased by Joseph White in 1856 from the artist. Lover was an author who published [Legends and Stones of Ireland] in 1832.
