ALS, Commercial Correspondence from Commodore William Bainbridge, USN to the firm of Jones and Clark, Philadelphia, 1806-11. [Some with inscription: "duplicate", but all apparently written and signed by Bainbridge]. 7 pieces. [Note: These letters, written in the several years leading up to the War of 1812, reflect Bainbridge's commercial activity on behalf of American shipping interests. In several instances, he is writing to Jones and Clark from London as he procures the latest maritime navigation equipment for them]
