A carved and polychromed head of a Saint or Monk, possibly St. Francis, late 18th early 19th c. Sensitively carved, wearing serene expression with head turned slightly downward to dexter, the face painted with rosy cheeks and mouth, and individual eyelashes, with inset glass eyes. Raised on square base and metal post. 3 1/2" h. Provenance: Private Collection acquired from Professor Joseph Jankowski, Cleveland Institute of Art Condition: losses to polychrome and surface throughout
