CHINA TRADE DESK - Rare East Indian Rosewood Slant Front Desk, with teak and pine secondary, probably Cantonese, circa 1740, in William & Mary form, with shallow half round gallery. The batten-end single-plank figured drop-front conceals stepback drawers flanking compartments with shaped valances over two shallow drawers, all with turned pulls. The lower cabinet has four ranks of graduated drawers with original cast brass foliate drop-bail pulls and escutcheons, molded base, all resting on substantial bun feet. 40" x 38" x 19", 30" to writing surface. Good condition, a few small spots on top, shrinkage cracks to sides, minor loss to molding at base.
