EYVIND EARLE (American 1916 - 2000) "California Orchard" Oil on masonite. 24 x 44 1/2 inches / 61 x 113 cm. Signed and dated lower right: Eyvind Earle 1966. Condition: Painting is in fair to good condition. It would benefit greatly from a cleaning. Upon closer inspection this may be mixed media (different types of paint possibly) as multiple layers show through and the style is similar to his watercolors rather than his oils. Signed and dated ink lower right. - 10 inches from bottom and 18 inches from right side is 2 inch long scrape with three circular pock marks (one at each end and one in center). These are then covered with purple (possibly ink or paint). 2) Another small pock mark measuring a º inch in diameter below the left branch on the tree on the right hand side exposes paint (this is not covered in blue). 3) In upper area of tree another º inch diameter pock mark and covered in blue.4) In the large left hand tree, there are two purple marks measuring ? inch diameter each three inches from the left side. There is a gash measuring 11 ? inches on the frame in the upper right corner.
