Han Dynasty, 206 BC-220 AD or later. An unglazed figurine of a horse mounted cataphract warrior on a rectangular base; the horse modelled with scale-armour trappings to the neck and head, the saddle and crupper marked in red pigment; the warrior bare-headed with scale armour to the body, upper arms and thighs; chamfron with plume to the horse's forehead; hollow to the underside. 1.3 kg, 21.5cm (8 1/2").
