This piece had been restretched and relined. There appears to be some impasto crushing from possible heating. Under black light there is a significant varnish layer to the surface causing yellowing. This varnish layer is masking touch ups. There is a light amount of touch up painting on the top of the varnish layer. These section are pen tip sized - 3" lines. These touch ups are mostly in the upper leaves and branches, but there are a few areas of in-paitning in the man's jacket, hat, and scattering the lower half of the canvas. There is a larger patch of over-painting above the dog's body, this section is about 4" x 2". To the naked eye there is an approximately 3" crack about 8" above the dog, this appears to be a repaired tear in the canvas. There is some light overall dust build up, and light wear to the edge of the painting where the frame is rubbing the edge of the canvas.
