A GROUP OF FIVE 19TH CENTURY BRITISH PRINTS. Comprising three by H. Humphrey, two 'Elements of Skating', and two by George Cruikshank 'Home from School' and 'Commencement of Holiday'. One is framed, four are matted Frame: 15'' x 13''
Condition
Prints "Home from School" and "Black Monday" both appear to have original margins and are not printed on the back. The both have noticeable yellow burning on the edge of the paper about 2" into the sheet, and overall light-medium yellowing to the sheet. These are both mounted in a mat windows and have a section about .5" x 1" of paper tape to the top edge on the front surface of the paper. These pieces have a light amount of pen tip - .5" diameter foxing spots scattering the surface and light-medium grime build up from handling. The other prints appear to be newer. Th "Fine Bracing weather" print is framed and was not removed for inspection. The other two prints have been cut down on the margins (One at the top of the sheet, one at the bottom), and there is another illustration printed on the back of the sheet. These have been mounted with two pieces of masking tape on the top edge of the front surface. These have a light-medium amount of yellowing to the sheet. There is some light pigment loss on the outer printed lines on the framed piece, this appears to be an irregularity from the maker.
