ARTIST UNKNOWN (CONTINENTAL SCHOOL, 19TH CENTURY) TWO PROFILE PORTRAITS. Of a man and woman. Pastels on paper. Unsigned. In black and gilt painted oval frames Frames: 20.5'' x 17.25''
Condition
These pieces were inspected in frame under glass. These piece are possibly mounted to the sheet behind. These don't appear to be a pair, they are two different shades of paper and a different paper fiber (gentleman is on laid paper). These both have a medium amount of grime and wear to the paper surface. There is some light water staining around the edges of both sheets (extends up to 3" into the sheet). There are a medium amount of creases to the paper that have been flattened out. There are are few .25" diameter slight pen tip sized holes to the paper of the gentlemen that appear to have some patching and light new coloring. Both sheets have a light amount of pen tip sized - .25" diameter foxing spots.
