A Pair of American Gothic Carved Rosewood Side Chairs, c. 1855, attributed to Crawford Riddell, Philadelphia, each with pointed arched back, seat rail with quatrefoil carved blocks above carved tapered legs. Provenance: Estate of Donald E. Pierce, Greenwood, MS and Santa Fe, NM; acquired from Thomas Wilmot Klein, St. Francisville, LA. Proceeds to benefit the Museum of New Mexico Foundation Note: These chairs relate closely to those which were part of the original furnishings at Rosedown, Natchez.
