Description
Pre-Columbian, Vera Cruz, Mexico, ca 600 CE. Macabre, rare and totally cool! Terracotta storage jar molded in the form of a pecary (a close cousin to the javalina), shown hunched over a human brain appearing to be eating it. The details of the brain's various ridges clearly delineated and enhanced with added pigment - as is the mouth of the pecary. Size: 12" L x 8" H.
Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970.
