Description
Circa 3000 BC. An alabaster eye idol, flat in section, with trapezoidal body and two large discoid eyes above.; supplied with a handwritten and signed note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham stating: Eye idol of alabaster, 82 x 58 x 6mm. Angular base narrows to neck and two eyes with brows. Syria, c. 3000 B.C. Large, condition very good. 45 grams, 82mm (3 1/4"). Property of an East London gentleman; believed found at Tel Brak in the 1920s.
