of a pear-shaped body, rising from a wide but slightly warped foot to a tall trumpet neck and an everted rolled rim, painted on each side in a rich black slip against white slip with a large peony flower with a slender stem and lavish leaves, the long stem extending to the neck of the vase and coiling to the left, all details delineated by white slip, the hollow unglazed flaring foot showing the greyish white stoneware body.
