Description

IMPRESSIVE LOUIS XV STYLE ORMOLU MOUNTED MALACHITE BUREAU PLAT circa 1900
the top of serpentine outline with an ormolu border and foliate corner clasps, above a frieze fitted with an arrangement of five drawers, opposed by false drawers, each with a ormolu border of scrolls, the sides also with a scrolled border, raised on cabriole legs ending in scrolled ormolu sabot, with ormolu masks, escutcheons and handles; re-veneered in malachite.

Height 31 in., Width 4 ft. 11 in., Depth 34 in.

Condition

Overall in excellent condition, the quality of the ormolu is very good, no apparent stamps or marks, the color is also good there is good uneven wear to the gilt. The malachite is very nice, central patter on the top, it appears to be of russian origin, it has some age and the color is excellent.
