Description

HANS-THEODOR SCHMIDT (1899 - 1951) SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer and adjutant of the commandant of Buchenwald Hermann Pister. Schmidt oversaw executions and hangings at the camp for over three years until he was himself arrested tried at Dachau and hanged. T.L.S. on ""Waffen-SS K.L. Buchenwald"" rubber-stamped letterhead 1p. oblong 8vo. Buchenwald Jan. 26 1944 to lawyer Hans Kohl in Vienna. The document specified that a wanted SS man is not in any of the local troop units and police searches have been unfruitful. File holes at left else very good.
