[FRANCE] Germaine Acremant (1889-1986) French novelist. It was during the war of 1914-1918 , during which her brother Pierre ( 1887 - 1914 ) will disappear, that the idea of writing comes to this young athletic woman with a nice talent for watercolor. Her first attempt in literature earned her notoriety - the Society of Men of Letters crown These ladies with green hats ( 1922 ) satire of provincial life , she draws with her husband, Albert Acremant, a comedy success. Reprinted many times (more than 1.5 million copies, translated into 25 languages, brought to film by director Maurice Cloche in 1937 ), this novel is followed by many others (about thirty), most of which pass in northern France, Saint-Omer in Etaples , hills of Artois to the beaches of Le Touquet , via Boulogne-sur-Mer and mythical cities. Included among the top: Gay! Married us, which won the National Prize for Literature in 1927 , moving the road ( price Montyon 1940 ), Rear-season ( 1942 ), etc.. Several of them have also been adapted for the theater , always in collaboration with Albert Acremant, who also directed the illustrations of several novels of his wife.
