(Charles) Henri Toussaint (Paris 1849 - 1911) Original Etching by Toussaint after a painting by Troyan, the famous Barbizon painter. The title is LOVER'S CONVERSATION. Circa 1880s, image approx. 6-3/4 x 4-1/2 in. plus wide margins. Very good condition. Charles Henri Toussaint: A nineteenth century French painter, illustrator and etcher, who gained his highest reputation for his architectural studies of Paris, the French provinces, Oxford and Cambridge. Toussaint studied painting in Paris under Gaucherel and Andre and etching under Brunet-Desbaines. He first exhibited his art at the Paris Salon in 1874 and during the following years received numerous awards, including medals from the Exposition Universalle in 1876, 1884, 1899 and 1900. Toussaint's architectural etchings were as well known in England as in his native France. He was a frequent contributor to P. G. Hammerton's, Portfolio, and was invited to etch views in Britain.
