A pair of highly elegant and richly adorned Russian liquor carafes of cut crystal with silver mount
Provenance: German private collection
The pair of liquor carafes was crafted in Russia in the period between 1908 and 1917. On a pyramid-shaped crystal corpus is the silver mount with hinged covers and handle. The crystal corpus is finely cut with a star on the base, as well as star and rhomb patterns on the wall and at the slim neck with high-rectangular profiled fields. The silver mount is designed with a spout as a beak, the knob as acorn and the thumb lifter as sublime acanthus leaf. The silver mount adorns a repoussé décor of acanthus leaves and roses.
The pair of carafes is each marked with fineness ‘84’, master’s mark (indistinct) and Kokoshnik mark facing right. The two decanters are in very good condition. They are each 20 cm tall. (tm)
