Il. Chashnik, 1922J.‘ (in Cyrillic) and numbers ‘no 348‘ and ‘1/811‘

Russian porcelain Plate in the Soviet Suprematism style
Provenance: German private collection
This Soviet Suprematism plate originates from the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory St. Petersburg. The décor was designed in the National Porcelain Manufactory in polychrome onglaze painting with a Suprematist motif after Ilya Chashnik (1902-1929) of the year 1922. The ground shows a colorful Suprematist décor in overglaze black, green, yellow, red and blue in the shape of crossing bars. The flag is surrounded by a broad black border.
On the base are the green overpainted mark of the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory St. Petersburg (Nicholas II) with date the 1908, the overglaze blue mark of the National Porcelain Manufactory (hammer and sickle), as well as ‘SUPREMATISM’, the UNOVIS symbol and ‘po ris. Il. Chashnik, 1922J.‘ (in Cyrillic) and the numbers ‘no 348‘ and ‘1/811‘. The condition is besides a small nick at the rim very good. The plate is 25 cm in diameter. (tm)
