Description
A framed collection of items from the Hindenburg disaster of May 6, 1937 in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Center is a piece of fire damaged outer skin of the ship, to its top is a 40th anniversary postcard inscribed "Hindenburg Disaster at Lakehurst, May 6, 1937-May 6, 1977" and "40th Anniversary, U.S. Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, N.J.", with pencil signature below by Herb Morrison, the lone broadcast reporter on site at the time of the crash whose report of the disaster was heard around the world. Lower center is a plaque inscribed with a short telling of the explosion of the ship. To the left and right are black and white photos of Morrison holding up his front page story and of the fiery ship itself at the time of explosion. Overall approximately 26" x 37".
