Classical Greek, Hellenistic period, Ca 2nd century BCE. Large and life-like terracotta dove, with detailed feathers, short curled legs underneath, body filled with small stones so it rattles when shaken. Size: 7"L.
Provenance: Ex-private Collection of William Dale, a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's, who acquired a vast Collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures during his tenure.
