Description
Iran, Luristan culture, Ca 1000 BCE. A most interesting and rare bronze stamp inlaid with four pieces of malachite on each side (?) and quartz or glass crystals in each insert. A rooster and bear face each other on the capital. Found in Luristan. Size: Piece itself measures 3"H (8cm), with stand 4"H.
Provenance: Bought by present owner at Sotheby's 1991
