Description
Phoenicia, Eastern Mediterranean, Ca 7th to 6th century BCE. Desirable torpedo-shaped terracotta amphora used in the transport of wine. This unusual variant has a single handle, thinning neck and rolled rim, bottom tapering to short point. Size: 25-1/2"H, custom stand.
Provenance: Ex-private Scott Collection acquired by a diver off Turkey in the 1960's.
