Philadelphia, October 14, 1776 with In Council of Safety Banner. Signed in ink by Thomas Wharton, Jr. President."Congress has received Intelligence from Generl Lee, that the Heffians have embarded from Staten Island, and that there is too mach Reafon to apprehend they are inteded to act against this State.......We, therefore, moft earneftly entreat you to exert yourfelf to the utmoft to have your Ballalion in perfect Radinefs to march at the shorteft warning.....The Council will ......give you Notice the Moment they find it .....neceffary for you to march. .......... Sent to Col. James Burd, The Colonel or Commanding Officer of the Fourth Batallioin of Lancaster County. Ink written document. 7 1/4" x 8 1/2". Shrink Wrapped.
