1/6 plate daguerreotype of a gentleman with ample hair, slightly rouged face, sealed to an oval mat with original seals, in a full case with intact spine. Impressed in the velvet mat is the crisp seal for "Harrison & Hill/ Artists/ 283 Fulton St. Brooklyn." "Craig's Daguerreian Registry" lists Harrison in partnership with G. H. Hill at this address in 1852 – 56. Harrison was one of the daguerreian masters, whose works include the great "Infant Savior." In Brooklyn he made a portrait of Walt Whitman. [4]
