A wonderful example of this process, in which the backing has been applied only behind the figures, leaving the rest clear glass through which we see the green paper behind. The women wear stylish gentlemanly hats with flaps covering their hair. Their earrings and pins are gilded. They hold hands.
The backing is crackling and can be easily renewed; the emulsion is fine. This is a ¼ plate ambrotype in a case with a missing rail, separated cover. [3] Condition report[3]See explanation of codes below
