Gents celebrating a deal & friendship Daguerreotype

This ¼ plate daguerreotype is in part a "friendship" image, but the rolled-up document suggests some kind of contract that has just been arranged [no, it's not likely to have been a marriage contract.] The difference between the partners is marked by their headgear. The man at left wears a cap— not that of a laborer, but even with his suit he is clearly in a different class than the businessman with a tall hat who holds the paper. Early paper seals have been kept. In a case with separated cover. A few drip spots at bottom of the plate. [3]
