Black Navy Company, 1943 panorama, identified

This is Company 972 at the Griswold Naval Training Station, Illinois. An 8" x 20" gelatin-silver panoramic print taken on July 25, 1943. There is a caption at the bottom center that is light but can still be deciphered. There is one white officer, behind the flag at the bottom. All the rest are blacks with one possible exception, 3d to the left of the officer. It's sobering that at this late date, 1943, the Navy was still segregated. This has further importance because many of the men are identified in pen on the print. Some minor vertical bends. [D2+]
