Lot 60 save

Paris Courtyard, Atget/Abbott

9 3/8" x 7" gelatin-silver print. "15 quai Bourbon" and number "37575" and "Paris" plus other notations on the verso. The number and the florid "Paris" seem to have been written by Abbott. This is an early printing by her from Atget's negative. It is slightly enlarged from Atget's albumen print from the same negative, presented in the previous lot.

By coincidence this came to me from another source than the albumen print by Atget offered in the previous lot. It is quite illuminating to compare the character of each of the prints.

This print is rich, just a little dark near the right edge. Some corners are bent from the insertion and removal from corners that is a plague of much of the commerce with prints. [D3]
