Ca. 1890. A wonderful album consisting of 36 CDV's and 16 cabinet cards by Louis Koch, scenes in Bremen, plus 4 identified portrait CDV's. These portraits are of 4 distinguished residents of Bremen who had befriended Mr Zimmermann of NYC when he visited there. They have presented this album to him, with a lovely dedication page with a watercolor of floral design, as a memorial of his visit.
The album is 9" x 12", with ornate gilded title "Reise Errinerungen" ["Travel Memories."] This major port on the North Sea was massively bombed during WWII; this is a fine depiction of its earlier charm and glory. Beside town and port scenes, it includes scenes from the 1890 Exhibition of Commerce and Industry. The leatherette album covers are coming loose, but the album pages are still bound and the contents are in fine undamaged condition. [3+] Condition report[3+]
