Film still Fritz Lang's "Siegfried" 1926

Sign In to see what this sold for

12" x 8 ¼" vintage gelatin–silver print, No. "25" in the negative, pencil notation and "Jan 15 1926" stamp on verso. "Siegfried" was the first of the two films making up Lang's 1924 masterpiece "Die Niebelungen." It was a triumph of Lang's artistry and of the superb craftsmanship of the UFA studios. It was followed by his great "Metropolis." This scene shows Gertrud Arnold as Queen Ute, holding threads in front of an ornate loom. Every detail including the lighting shows meticulous artistry. The print quality is superb. There is some slight wear from handling, notably some bends in upper right corner. [D4]
