Lot 112 save

Legs, by Count Zichy, with quotation from Milton

8 ¼" x 11 ½" gelatin-silver print on the original mount with Zichy's stamp on verso, ca. 1948. Affixed to the mount, recto, is a printed label with a quotation by Milton: "A passage broad/ Smooth, easy, inoffensive, down to Hell." The original translucent paper protector with spider-web pattern is still attached. The Englishman Theodore Zichy was an eccentric whose photographs frequently have a shoe and leg motif.
