Description
Massive finely detailed wood and brass builder's model of the steel screw steamer Eagle Point, mounted in a late 19th c. walnut display case. The ship built by Joseph L. Thompson & Sons Shipbuilding, England, 1900, for the Norfolk & North American Steam Shipping Co., Ltd., was sunk by a U-70 German submarine on March 28, 1916. Note: Must be removed on the day of the sale unless prior arrangements have been made. Model- 34"h.x99"l., beam 12.5". Case- 70.5"h.x120"l.x26"d.
Condition
Some slight damage to rigging, fittings and masts. The glass front was replaced at some pint by Plexiglas, the front opening molding has been removed and has some losses, but mostly present
