1929. cca. 70 x 50 cm. Paper, lithography. German language poster for Charlie Chaplin's movie. The Adventurer is a short comedy film made in 1917 written and directed by Charlie Chaplin, and is the last of the twelve films made under contract for the Mutual Film Corporation. The poster is a decorative piece from the between wars period. It shows a commercial style of the the Art Deco, which was typical for movie posters. The composition is focused on the double figure of Chaplin. The warm colores and the funny figure fit to the athmosphere of the humorous short movie. The poster is a bianco piece, the lower part is left blank, the movies could print here information about the screening. Chaplin plays an escaped convict on the run from prison guards. He falls into favor with a wealthy family after he saves a young lady (Edna Purviance) from drowning, but her suitor (Eric Campbell) does everything he can to have Chaplin apprehended by the officials.
