Constructed of pine & veneered in fine burl with inlaid banding pattern consisting of mahogany and birch. Hardware is ebonized iron with brass carrying handle on top.
Original label inside states: 'S. Shepard Trunk Makers & Undertaker, No. 90 near the Bull Inn, Bishops Gate Street, London'.

Newspaper that has been pattern printed over lines the inside. Period penned 'This box cost L. 2.62, October 7, 1813'.
