600. [HORACE BURDICK] (1844-1942). American artist known for his still-life paintings, crayon portraits, finally turning to portraits in oil, for which he became famous. He also did a large number of landscapes in both oil and watercolor. The subjects range from New Hampshire's White Mountains to coastal scenes. Unsigned pencil studies on leaf removed from sketchpad, 5½"x5". One landscape drawing he entitles "Long Lake - Adirondacks." Beneath are three still-life sketches and one quarter-length portrait of a man wearing a visored hat. General light toning; light dampstain at right edge extends ½" barely touching two of the still-lifes. An amazingly detailed study by this respected New England artist. Est: $100-200
