American cartoon artist and entrepreneur; producer of animated films and winner of 39 Academy Awards; produced first animated film with sound, Steamboat Willie (1928), which introduced Mickey Mouse to the world. Dust jacket VG with vivid color illustrations, worn lamination at extremities as is common, and ½" chip at back top edge and clipped price imprint. Book is in very good condition, tightly bound, internally clean with bright color and b/w illustrations. The bottom edge evidences light wear. Magnificently inscribed "To June Levant With Best Wishes - Walt Disney" in blue artists crayon on endpaper across from title page. Actress/singer June Levant, also known as June Gale, was the wife of pianist, composer, and sarcastic wit Oscar Levant (1906-1972) of radio, film and television fame. He was a member of the famous Algonquin Round Table of New York wits and writers. An appealing book full of wonderful animation secrets with a beautiful signature by the great animator and nice associations - a Disney collector's delight. Est: $5000-9000
