The present bronze is a characteristic work of the German sculptor Fritz Richter-Elsner, who worked as the artistic director of the well-known Hofbildgießerei Gladenbeck, between 1905 and 1916. The sculpture reveals the female nude of an Amazon riding on the blank back of her tempestuous horse. The animal appears with a dark shimmering patina, which contrasts from the golden parts the nude’s body. The sculpture is presented on a two-part marble base characterized by greyish-green veins and black inclusions.



The bronze is signed on the backside of the plinth ‘F. Richter’ and fitted with the manufacturer’s mark above ‘Oskar Gladenbeck G.m.b.H. / Echt Bronce garant’. The work is in good condition considering its age. It measures 31 x 25 x 11 cm and the dimensions of the marble base are 8.5 x 25.5 x 13 (height x width x depth).



Fritz Richter-Elsner (1884-1970)

The German sculptor Fritz Richter-Elsner received his artistic training at the Industrie- und Kunstgewerbeschule Sonnberg und an der Kunstakademie in München. Between 1905 and 1916, Richter-Elsner became the artistic director of the Oskar Gladenbeck Hofbildgießerei.
