Description

c.1800, Certificate of Authenticity reads: â€œAMERICAN CANOPY BED. This bed was made from walnut, circa 1800 most probably in Virginia. The front posts are reeded with carved leafage and turned designs. Brass caps are to be seen on the feet ends of these posts. The pair of back posts are turned in the same design as the front ones and contain a shaped headboard with an unusual design of twin top crests similar to the pattern found made in a design normally consisting of a single pattern of scroll ends. The headboard has a double panel.â€, 89x82x57in. Provenance: Purchased Savannah, GA, 1986.
