Description
A choice Egyptian yellow-composite figure of a trussed horned goat, 2nd Intermediate, c. 1750 - 1570 BC, with exquisite detail and style, the flattened backside incised with a cartouche containing a Kheper beetle flanked by Falcons and Djed pillar of Osiris flanked by uraei, perhaps the prenomen of one of the kings from this period, since this same cartouche is commonly found on scarabs from the same time. A rare and most interesting piece! 4 x 2.5 cm. Intact. Ex San Diego private collection.
