Description
A pair of Greek ceramic vessels. Lot includes a Xenon-ware handled jar, Magnia Graecia, c. 330 - 300 BC, the body squat with ring foot, short neck with flared mouth and double handle. The sides of the vessel decorated in orange slip. H: 2 3/4 in (7 cm). Intact with some surface wear. The second vessel is a Greek ceramic Guttus, or oil dispenser, Magnia Graecia, c. 4th Century BC, the low, rounded body sits on a ring base. The flared trumpet spout leans at an angle and is backed by a strap handle. L: 4 1/2 in (10.8 cm). Intact, the body with age cracks, remains of dark brown slip and light deposits throughout. Two vessels in the lot. Ex Orange County private collection.
