[Union Case]. Daguerreotype half-plate portrait of man in rare Littlefield, Parsons & Co. "American Country Life - Summer's Evening" variant case w/ frame border. The scene on the front & rear covers was taken from a section of a Nathaniel Currier print, published in folio size in 1855. Considered "an interesting and unusual variant of one of a prized Union case." [Krainik, p.30-31]. Image slightly darkened, frame in vg cond., fingerprints visible under glass, interior red velvet vg, Littlefield logo visible inside. Outside of case shows several minor chips to edges, hinges vg, overall very fine.
