Description
Sir Joshua Reynolds (16 July 1723 – 23 February 1792) was an influential eighteenth-century English painter, specialising in portraits. He promoted the "Grand Style" in painting which depended on idealization of the imperfect. He was a founder and first president of the Royal Academy, and was knighted by George III in 1769. This set of 11 prints are from 1900, Volume 1 Part 7 of the MASTERS IN ART publication. Prints include: THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, MRS. SIDDONS AS THE TRAGIC MUSE, PORTRAIT OF LORD HEATHFIELD, LADY COCKBURN AND HER CHILDREN, THREE LADIES ADORNING A TERM OF HYMEN, PORTRAITS OF TWO GENTLEMEN, COUNTESS SPENCER AND HER CHILD, PORTRAIT OF VISCOUNTESS CROSBIE, PORTRAIT OF DR. SAMUEL JOHNSON, AND PORTRAIT OF SIR JOSHUA REYNOLDS BY HIMSELF. Each print is 7-1/2" x 10" and ready for framing. Small staple holes on left edge of each print - will not show when framed.
